Bill Hawley

Bill Hawley is the Prevention Manager at Johnson County Public Health, serving the wonderful residents and communities in Johnson County, Wyoming. 

As a former teacher, coach and principal, Bill has a life-long love of learning and teaching. 

Bill’s professional career began in 1986 at Martin Luther High School in Maspeth, Queens, New York where he taught social sciences and coached baseball and basketball.  Bill served as an assistant principal, teacher and coach in suburban St. Louis and finally served as principal at Risen Christ School in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Bill knows the value of intervention skills when working with and relating to people of all ages and demographics, especially those struggling with brain health issues and thoughts of suicide.

Bill is one of two Master Trainers for LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) in Wyoming and has facilitated more than 75 workshops throughout the state in the past decade.

Bill served his community as a Buffalo City Councilor from 2010-2016 and currently serves on the Advisory Board for the WY Lifeline Call Center for 988.

Bill believes that positive community transformation happens through intentional communication, cooperation, and collaboration of caring, compassionate citizens.  Grassroots efforts that are led by citizens will bring about a safer, healthier, more compassionate        Wyoming.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys golfing, kayaking, camping, gardening, and walking Loki with his bride, Denise.
